Fr. Stephen (August) Dzuban of Saint Teresa was born on August 23, 1909 in Hecla, Pennsylvania to parents Andrew and Mary (nee Jancosek) Dzuban. He entered the Order on August 5, 1931 and was given the name Stephen of Saint Teresa. He made his simple profession on September 4, 1932. Following his profession and in the company of fellow brother, Albert Bourke, he was sent to Mount Carmel, Israel to study philosophy and to the Discalced Carmelite International College in Rome to study theology. It was in Rome he was ordained on May 7, 1939 by Bishop Traglia. Returning to the United States, Fr. Stephen served as Prior at Holy Hill, Hubertus, Wisconsin (1942-1945)(1954-1957) and as Pastor at St. Mary of the Hill Parish, Hubertus (1952-1957). Father ministry over the years was to the pilgrims and visitors of the Holy Hill Shrine. His knowledge of Slovak, Polish, and Italian besides English was a blessing to many. Fr. Stephen died November 19, 1990 and is buried in the Carmelite Cemetery, Hubertus, Wisconsin.
