Fr. Peter (John) Seul of the Mother of God was born on November 19, 1878, in Oberbreisig a/Rhein - St. Victor Parish in the diocese of Trier, Germany, to parents Peter and Gertrude (nee Maas) Seul. He was clothed in the Carmelite habit on June 25, 1902, in Graz, Austria and made his simple profession there on June 23, 1903. On March 10, 1906, he made solemn vows in Wadowice, Poland and was ordained into the priesthood on July 8, 1906 in Krakow, Poland by Auxiliary Bishop Novak of Krakow.
During his ministry in America, Fr. Peter served as advisor to the Provincial Delegate, was a lector of Philosophy and Theology at Holy Hill and pastor at Holy Hill, Hubertus, Wisconsin and St. Patrick’s in Thompson, Erin Township, Wisconsin. He also served the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as a member of the Examination Board for Junior Clergy. He is remembered as a knowledgeable and well-educated individual.
Fr. Peter died on November 29, 1943 and is buried at the Carmelite Cemetery in Hubertus, Wisconsin next to Fr. Augustine Hamers.
