Fr. Peter (Martin) Duggan of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was born in Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts to parents Peter and Catherine (nee Gerraghty) Duggan. He entered the Carmelite Novitiate in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1948 and made his First Profession, August 15, 1949. Father completed his philosophical studies in our House of Philosophy, Holy Hill, Wisconsin and his theological studies at our House of Theology in Washington, DC, and was ordained on December 22, 1956.
Fr. Peter served as a teacher in our former Minor Seminary at Peterborough, New Hampshire, and eventually became its Rector. He later served as Pastor at St. Florian Parish, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and as Novice Master when our Novitiate was located at Waverly, New York. He also served a term as Vicar Provincial of the Province. Later in his life, he was assigned to our monastery in Washington, DC, giving retreats and ministering to the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order in that area. Fr. Peter died on November 25, 1984, and is buried at the Carmelite Cemetery, Hubertus, Wisconsin.
