Br. Martin Murphy of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was born August 1, 1928, in Washington, DC to parents Martin and Catherine (nee Miller) Murphy. Br. Martin served his country in the United States Marine Corp, stationed in Korea (1951-1952) and served as a chaplain at Camp Pendleton, California. Among his Carmelite ministries, Br. Martin served in the Philippines (1967-1974), worked in the mental health field in Washington, DC (1975-1978), and in the hospital in Elmira, New York. He served his communities as Procurator in both Boston, Massachusetts and Holy Hill, Wisconsin.  Br. Marty died on September 26, 2019, and is buried at the Carmelite Cemetery in Hubertus, Wisconsin.
