Fr. Philip (Edward) Foley of the Incarnation was born on January 15, 1910, in Boston, Massachusetts to parents John and Mary (nee Riley) Foley. Prior to acceptance into the Discalced Carmelite Order, Father Philip attended college and studied briefly with the Calced Fathers. He made his simple profession on November 9, 1935 at Holy Hill, studied Theology in Rome, Italy and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Aloysius Traglia in Rome on September 15, 1939.
Fr. Philip served in many ways during his priestly ministry including Pastor of St. Florian Catholic Church in West Milwaukee (1951-1954). Friars recalled that he worked devotedly with the Secular Carmelite Order.
Fr. Philip died on June 28, 1972, and is buried at the Carmelite Cemetery, Hubertus, Wisconsin.
