Fr. Herman Joseph (Charles) Esselman of the Infant Jesus of Prague was born on November 4, 1920 in Hartford, Wisconsin to parents Louis and Frances (nee Kelly) Esselman. He made his simple profession at Holy Hill in Hubertus, Wisconsin on August 24, 1939 and was ordained a priest by Bishop Wm. P. O’Connor of Superior, Wisconsin in Washington, DC on November 17, 1944. On April 23, 1947 Fr. Herman arrived in the Philippines and it is here he devoted most of his priestly life as a missionary. Fr. Herman Joseph died on October 14, 1986. His Mass of Christian Burial was held at Mount Carmel Church, Metro Manila, The Philippine Islands
